Commercial Invasive Weed Control and Remediation

Specialist invasive weed survey, treatment and remediation services for commercial sites, infrastructure projects, developers, contractors and public sector organisations.

Oliver Brown Ltd supports larger invasive weed projects, including Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed, contaminated soils and rhizome removal. We provide practical treatment plans, compliant disposal options and site-specific remediation support for projects where invasive weeds could delay works, increase risk or create long-term management issues.

Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed and Invasive Weed Treatment

Invasive weeds can create serious issues on construction, infrastructure, development and land management projects. Left unmanaged, species such as Japanese knotweed and giant hogweed can affect site safety, programme timescales, soil movement, legal responsibilities and long-term land value.

Our role is to help clients understand the extent of the issue, choose the right treatment or removal method, and complete works in a way that is practical, compliant and suited to the wider project.

We work with commercial contractors, local authorities, developers, landowners and organisations managing larger sites where invasive weed control needs to be planned properly from the outset.

Invasive Weed Expertise Led by a PCA Qualified Japanese Knotweed Surveyor

Simon York leads invasive plant projects for Oliver Brown Ltd, bringing 26 years of experience in invasive weed management. As a PCA qualified Surveyor of Japanese Knotweed, he supports clients with site surveys, detailed reporting, treatment planning and the operational management of works on site.

His approach is focused on the whole project, not just the weed issue in isolation. That means looking at programme, site constraints, safety, compliance and the most practical combination of treatment or eradication methods to help keep works moving.

Simon also holds relevant herbicide application qualifications, including PA6 A W for herbicide use on or near water, along with Site Supervisors Safety Plus, CSCS, first aid, CAT and Genny, asbestos awareness, and needles and sharps awareness training.

Invasive Weed Control FAQs

These FAQs cover some of the common questions we’re asked by contractors, developers, landowners and public sector organisations planning larger invasive weed projects.

Do you work on domestic Japanese knotweed projects?

Our invasive weed service is mainly focused on larger commercial projects, typically over £10,000. For smaller domestic enquiries, we may not be the right fit.

Can you remove Japanese knotweed from site?

Yes, where removal is the right option. This may include excavation, soil screening, rhizome removal and disposal to licensed landfill, depending on the site and project requirements.

Can you provide a treatment plan?

Yes. We can prepare practical treatment plans for commercial sites, including options for control, removal, disposal and longer-term management.

Do you cover the whole UK?

For suitable commercial invasive weed projects, we can work UK-wide. For most other services, our typical operating area is around a 2-hour radius of our base.

Can you help if invasive weeds are delaying a construction project?

Yes. We can assess the issue, advise on realistic options and support works that help move the project forward safely and compliantly.
